Intramuros is a historic walled city within Manila, the modern capital of Phillipines. Back it its heyday, it was known as the walled city and was the center of political power when Phillipines was under the control of the Spanish Empire. Today, its walls have been kept largely intact and immaculately restored despite devastation following the brutal World War II. Being here in person really gave us the feeling that we had been transported to Europe. The various Baroque churches, military fortifications and spanish residences do not fail to impress. We would recommend anyone seeking a taste of Europe in Asia to come here as it certainly one of the most underrated historical cities in Asia.
