Croatia is so diverse and beautiful in many aspects both in terms of natural history and cultural heritage. However, its own capital city Zagreb is often overlooked as a layover city for international travellers.
The truth is Zagreb is the most family and stroller friendly capital city we have ever been to. There are very few automobiles and hardly any traffic (we tried both public transport and rental car), but there is an extensive and efficient tram network. The pedestrian pavements are the widest and emptiest we've seen with gradual ascents and descents all over. Needless to say, there were an abundance of attractions and well preserved buildings around the old town, with the pictured St. Mark's Church being the must-go. Last but least, Zagreb is also one of the best cities we've been to for gastronomy, for affordable prices!
